Israel 7: Camels and chalky slide

A slightly depressive mood which possessed us after the trip into the darkness of Nitzana history, disappeared magically. The next destination of the afternoon trip was a camel farm. I couldn’t be more wrong when I imagined a fenced grazing and devastated shepherd huts.

Israel 6: The spirit of war on the Incense Route

We came back home with Iris and, after a generous lunch (this time it was an entirely new version of couscous with vegetables), we set out for another trip.

Firstly, we passed by Nitzana village, established in 1987 and named after the ruins of a Nabataean city located due east. 

Israel 5: Pomegranate paradise

After a long walk under a burning sun we left Shivta tired and thirsty. We found shade in the car, but we were still dreaming about freshly-squeezed orange or pomegranate juice. On our way back to moshav, we told Iris about our wish, and she... grabbed her mobile and after a short conversation with one of her friends, she told us to change the route.

Izrael 7: Wielbłądy i kredowa zjeżdżalnia

Nieco depresyjny nastrój, który opanował nas po krótkiej wycieczce w mroki historii Nitzany i okolic, minął jak ręką odjął.  Następnym celem popołudniowej wycieczki była farma wielbłądów. Jeśli wyobrażałam sobie ogrodzone pastwiska i chylące się ku upadkowi chaty pasterzy, to nie mogłam się bardziej pomylić.

Izrael 6: Duch wojny na Szlaku Kadzidlanym

Wróciliśmy do domu Iris i po obfitym obiedzie (tym razem była to zupełnie nowa odsłona kuskusa z warzywami) wyruszyliśmy na kolejną tego dnia wycieczkę.
Najpierw minęliśmy założoną w 1987 wioskę Nitzana, której nazwa pochodzi od znajdujących się na wschód od niej ruin nabatejskiego miasta. 

Izrael 5: Granatowy raj

Po długim spacerze w palącym słońcu opuszczaliśmy Shivtę zmęczeni i bardzo spragnieni. Cień znaleźliśmy w samochodzie, ale pragnienie dalej nam dokuczało, zamarzył się nam więc świeżo wyciśnięty sok z pomarańczy albo granatów. W drodze powrotnej do moszawu podzieliliśmy się naszym marzeniem z Iris, a ona ... chwyciła za komórkę i, po krótkiej rozmowie z jakimś swoim znajomym, kazała nam zmienić trasę.

Israel 4: Shivta - has it changed that much over the last thousand years?

It was almost 11 a.m. and the blinding daylight gave us an idea of how it might be there in the high summer. But we didn’t come to Israel to seek shadow, but adventures, so we got into the car accompanied by our lovely host. She turned out to be a certified guide of the majority of tourist attractions of Israel and she wanted to show us a 2000-year old ancient settlement, or rather a city.
